MAKE ROOM FOR THIS MOMENT
Come back to
what matters.
Bring a little more love, curiosity, and purpose into the day you’re already living.
Where would you like to begin?
What is here,
right now?
Let your attention settle on one thing around you: a color, a sound, the light on a wall. Give it a moment of your full attention.
Life is happening in the moment you are already in.
From the manifesto: Wonder Changes Everything
THE CHASE THE LIGHT MANIFESTO
Leave more light
than you found.
Chase the Light is an invitation to find joy, spread laughter, live with purpose, and carry more love into the world.
The practice begins in ordinary life: the attention you give, the kindness you offer, and the next choice you make. Return to it as often as you need.
Choose the Light
The light can be love, God, truth, purpose, or awareness. Let it give your choices direction, even when the path ahead is uncertain.
Put it into practice
Pause before your next decision. Ask which choice brings a little more care into the situation.
Return to your reflectionPresence Is the Greatest Gift
Your attention is a way of telling someone they matter. Give a moment of your life fully to the person or experience in front of you.
Put it into practice
Put your phone away during your next conversation. Listen long enough to hear what the other person is really saying.
Return to your reflectionYour Body Is Sacred
The body that carries you through life deserves care. Make room to notice what it needs, with patience for the body you have today.
Put it into practice
Choose one act of care: a nourishing meal, rest, or movement that feels accessible to you.
Return to your reflectionLove Is an Action
Love takes shape in the time you give, the words you choose, and the care you bring to everyday life. Let that care include yourself.
Put it into practice
Tell someone you love them. Be specific about what you appreciate, then give them your attention.
Return to your reflectionCuriosity Creates Growth
Stay willing to learn. A question, an unfamiliar perspective, or a new experience can open a possibility you had not considered.
From Chase’s lifeChase explored stand-up comedy, photography, and ballroom dancing after his near-death experience. He wanted to discover what he could do, without needing each interest to become a career.
Put it into practice
Ask someone a sincere question today. Listen with room for their answer to surprise you.
Return to your reflectionFear Is a Poor Compass
Notice when fear is making a decision for you. Give your values a voice too, and leave room for a thoughtful, manageable act of courage.
From Chase’s lifeChase had worried about how others might judge him for ballroom dancing. He took social lessons, went on to instructor training, and earned certification, even though he never chose to teach.
Put it into practice
Think of something meaningful you have been putting off. Choose one small step you feel ready to take.
Return to your reflectionService Creates Meaning
Purpose can be close at hand. Your experience, time, and attention can make someone’s day easier in ways you may never fully see.
Put it into practice
Ask where you can be useful today. Offer one concrete kindness without needing recognition.
Return to your reflectionWonder Changes Everything
Make room for beauty, play, and laughter. The ordinary world offers small invitations to feel alive when you give it your attention.
From Chase’s lifeGrowing up, Chase played a music guessing game with his grandmother. Naming a song could earn him a dollar; the game gave them a simple way to enjoy music together.
Put it into practice
Step outside and notice the sky, enjoy something that makes you laugh, or give a familiar place a second look.
Return to your reflectionForgiveness Sets You Free
Forgiveness can make room for a different relationship with the past. Let it unfold at your pace, with respect for the boundaries you need.
Put it into practice
Notice one mistake you keep holding against yourself. Consider what a compassionate response would sound like.
Return to your reflectionEvery Person Is Fighting Something
You rarely know the whole story someone is carrying. Leave room for compassion in your response, including compassion for yourself.
Put it into practice
In your next conversation, listen without rushing to fix. Ask what kind of support would be welcome.
Return to your reflectionDeath Teaches Life
Remembering that our time is finite can bring what matters into focus. There is love to express and life to participate in today.
Put it into practice
Think of a thank-you you have been saving for another day. Share it while you have the chance.
Return to your reflectionLeave More Light Than You Found
Carry the practice into the places you go. A little more kindness, understanding, or laughter can become part of what you leave behind.
Put it into practice
Before the day ends, notice one place where your care made a difference. Let that guide a choice tomorrow.

to bring light today?
THE PERSON BEHIND THE PRACTICE
Hello, I’m Chase.
Dr. Chase Skylar DeMayo · U.S. Air Force veteran, speaker, and writer
My near-death experience in 2008 changed how I understood love and the life I still had to live. Making sense of it took time. For about twelve years, I kept the experience largely to myself.
Chase the Light grew from learning to bring that experience into ordinary life: trying something new, finding room for laughter, and showing up with more care. These reflections are an invitation to explore what that could look like in your own day.
You are welcome here, whatever you believe. My story is free to read, and there is more about my experience, interviews, and speaking on my main website.
